The Way Self-Defence

Personal Injury Cover

The cost of providing public liability and personal injury insurance would make it prohibitively expensive to run a self-defence course (bearing in mind we are not a profit making organisation). Therefore, before starting a self-defence course you will be required to sign a liability disclaimer form.

The disclaimer is an undertaking not to hold The Way Dojo, our venue, or its representatives, responsible in any way for injuries you may sustain while training.

The nature of self defence training means that we take safety very seriously, however, the physical nature of the training means that it is impossible to completely remove the risk of injury. In the same way that you accept the risk of twisting an ankle while playing in the park or your back garden, you need to accept the risks associated with self-defence training.

If you are worried about an injury that may lead to a loss of income then we would strongly recommend that you investigate personal injury insurance cover.

It is essential that we are informed of all health issues that may affect you during your self-defence training. If you are unsure about any health issues speak to John in confidence before starting the course.

Before starting a self-defence course we ask students to complete a disclaimer form (as shown below):

The Way Dojo is fully equipped with safety and personal protective equipment, and although every care will be taken with your property and person, accidents do happen.

While training at The Way, your property is left entirely at your own risk. Therefore, it is recommended that you do not bring unnecessary valuables with you.

If you have any ongoing medical conditions or injuries we MUST be informed prior to you participating in training. If you feel unwell or sustain an injury while training at The Way Dojo, all of our members are trained in first aid and will be on hand to help you.

If you have any concerns about financial hardship (such as loss of earnings) in the unlikely event of you sustaining an injury while training with us, you are advised to arrange personal injury insurance cover, through your own insurer.

I ___________________________________ accept total responsibility for any injury that may occur while training at The Way Dojo and I undertake not to hold The Way Dojo, St Anne’s church or their representatives responsible in any way for any injuries sustained or property lost/damaged.
