The Way Self-Defence

What it costs

The price of a 15 week (30 hour) self-defence course is £12 a week. This works out to £6.00 per hour. If you compare this price to any other leisure activities you will see that the price of our course is very low.

The Way is a non-profit group. Your course payment goes towards covering the cost of the hall. Due to this, we require a non-refundable deposit - payable after your discussion with the teacher if you wish to book a place. No-one gets paid to teach, they do it because they feel it is the right thing to do. We believe that everyone should do a self-defence course. If there are any issues around you doing a self-defence course, you should contact the teachers before the start of the course.

If you are unable to attend a session we expect you to notify us as soon as you know, (knowing which students will be absent allows us to plan sessions better, and notification of your absence would simply be a case of good manners). We also expect you to arrive on time (19:00) - or early (18.45).

In addition to the financial cost, it is also expected that you will commit yourself to 2 hours a week for 15 weeks. You will need to commit an amount of honesty and a degree of effort.

Before you book our course you should be aware that places are limited, also we expect you to turn up every week and complete the course. Payment is made in full at the start of the course (minus your deposit), unless alternative arrangements have been agreed (in advance) with the teachers. Therefore, we would suggest you try to move or swap shifts so that you do not miss any classes. If you do miss a class we will try to catch you up on any missed material/content within your remaining weeks, also you can pay for additional classes if you wish. The reason for this is that the hall has to be paid for regardless of how many people attend.
